“We would like to invite anyone interested in learning more about horticulture, for fun or purpose, large or small scale, to come check out our meetings. Our goal this year is to build our membership. All our members share a love of outdoors, growing things, flowers & foods, birds and bugs. We also hope to install a Blue Star Memorial here in Raymore to honor our Veterans. Our April meeting will be a special meeting for potential new members to come see what we do and learn how to start gardening from scratch. Feel free to contact me, Jerri Lynn Keith, 816-309-8612 if you have any questions.”

The bird houses were constructed by the club, the placement of the houses will be determined by the Parks and Recreation Department and
the garden club and the boy scouts will work with the installation of these 15 new houses along the trails. These are photos of the preparation of the houses and the finalization of the houses.

Walnut Estates Receives Donations
December 2009 - Sunset Garden Club will be doing something different than usual and it started last Christmas. Rather than bring a $ 10.00 gift to be exchanged by members, we will donate $ 10.00 to a sum of monies decided on by the club to help out a community in Raymore that is low income. We were supported by local merchants, banks, grocery stores and the fire department on our gifts.
Walnut Estate, a 34 unit couples residence was very pleased with our donation of gifts last year. We are, once again, doing it for Christmas 2009! Merry Christmas!
The Sunset Garden Club (WCD) recently packed and delivered 34 bags, to Walnut
Estates, a senior living facility in Raymore, Mo. The bags were donated by the Federal
Government, from their CFC program. The club and its members donated money to
fill the bags with much needed items, comet, dish soap, hand soap. toilet paper,
Kleenex, paper towels, room freshener, dryer sheets, paper, pen, pencil, winter
gloves, candy, bag clip, hand sanitizer, pill holder, glass cleaner, and calender.
This was the second year of the project, the residents met us at the door with big
smiles and lots of thanks.
